Step-by-Step Guide: How to Change Your Wi-Fi Password
Step 1: Connect to Your Router
Make sure your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) is connected to your Wi-Fi network or via an Ethernet cable.
Step 2: Log Into the Router
Open a web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari).
Type your router’s IP address into the address bar https://192.168.100.1 and press Enter.
Enter your router username and password.
Common defaults:
Username: root
Password: admin
Step 4: Locate the Advance Settings
Look for WLAN:
2.4G Basic Network Settings,/p>
SSID Name is your Wifi name
Step 5: Change Your Wi-Fi Password
Find the field labeled WPA PreSharedKey
Enter your new Wi-Fi password.
Tips for a strong password:
At least 12 characters
Mix of letters (uppercase & lowercase), numbers, and symbols
Avoid easy words like password123
You can also rename your Wi-Fi network (SSID) if you want.
Step 6: Save the Settings
Click Apply
Your router may restart to apply changes.
After changing the password in 2.4G Basic network settings
Repeat this process in 5G Basic Network Settings.
Step 7: Reconnect Devices
All devices previously connected will be disconnected.
Reconnect using your new Wi-Fi password.
Step 8: Optional – Update Your Records
Write down your new Wi-Fi password in a secure place.
Update any devices, apps, or smart devices that use your Wi-Fi.
